Unlike other defibrillators, the Philips HeartStart FRx features a unique  (sold separately; see related products) that allows you to use the same SMART Pads II for both adults and children. When the infant/child key is inserted, the defibrillator automatically adjusts the shock strength and guidance to provide the correct instructions for pad placement and CPR that are appropriate for an infant or child.
As the user doesn't have to spend time switching pads based on the patient's age, vital time is saved meaning therapy can be delivered more quickly, whilst also saving on the expense of purchasing seperate pads for adults, children and infants. This unique feature means the FRx is particularly suited to nurseries, schools, play areas, swimming pools and other locations regularly frequented by both people of all ages.
