Colgate Total® Pro Gum Health floss is an interdental floss for in-office and home use. Many floss products on the market contain PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), also commonly called teflon. While PTFEs are safe in our flosses, we were aware of concerns about them, and so we reformulated our product with new technology that delivers the same performance. Because of the material change, while the original floss was able to be in a single tape format, the newer one is a multifilament material, coated with wax, which was designed to glide easily between your teeth. Being composed of multiple filaments provides the floss with the ability to spread on the tooth surface to provide cleaning action. Our new floss may have a different feel, which might be noticed as a different thickness or less flexibility, but is just as effective in the new material as it was before.
